Happy Day LaurieKae

A day with LaurieKae on her birthday…
First I would pick you up in a
bright red convertible corvette
that perfectly matches your spicy personality.
On your seat would be waiting
for your calorie free pleasure-
a package of Oreos,
cold fresh milk in a thermos,
the latest fully loaded Blackberry
in an adorable purse complete with
a wallet full of cold fresh cash.
On the radio would be playing,
One Hot Mama- by Trace Adkins.
First stop would be your appearance on
Hollywood Squares where celebrities such as,
Glenn Beck, Celine Dion, and Jim McCune
would be mobbing you for an autograph.
From there we would take a quick flight
to Maui
and your children would be watched by a fully
qualified robot nanny
who miraculously nurses babies
and helps with homework
and spotlessly cleans your house
and makes healthy hearty meals,
provided free and clear.
In Maui we would sample fresh pineapple
and drink from coconuts,
Okay we’d try them on too:)
We’d have to rush back to the states to the
most haunted place on earth
The Salt Lake House,
where we would be given
a professional tour with ghost hunters
and capture awesome EVP’s
and photos of apparitions.
Next, lunch at Denny’s.
You would do a speech from our booth.
Everyone would give a standing ovation
and shower you with french fries.
After offering free pies to everyone,
we would leave for a
fantastic concert by your fave…
Anne Murray,
together you would sing a duet of blissful harmony
Just Another Woman in Love.
You both would exchange addresses to send
Christmas cards and agree to be lifelong friends.
We would swing by the Melaleuca store
so you could pick up your products
and introduce a couple
hundred people to the most fabulous
wellness company on earth.
We would have to hurry to make it to your
massage appointment given by Drew Carey,
just kidding,
it’s Sam,
and he’s been taking masseuse lessons,
Surprise!
We would have to splash a bucket of ice water
to wake you from your dreamy slumber,
but it would be well worth it,
because next we’d go to
your surprise party where all your
friends and family
would be waiting with presents and tributes
to tell all that you mean to them.
Another year wiser, hotter, and sassier,
Makin' Banks!
We love you LaurieKae!

Hiking the "H" Rock

(to clarify, "H" stands for Highland High in Salt Lake)

Hoppers tickling our jelly shoe feet
Thick air steams within the sweaty oak trees
Passing strangers creep us out with looks that linger too long
Did they just hide a body, we wonder
Wild flowers, sagebrush, and dry grasses made me itch
Must press on
Shiny treasures peek out of dusty blankets
Conversations occur amongst
Clicking insects and crickets that hum a rhythm
We made it
Climbing our Everest of jagged hot potatoes
Our little hands peel layers of paint like tree rings
Sitting atop the dangerous perch we call out
Our lookout to the world
We eat our sandwich half gone from impatience
Make up stories for the metal skeletons below
Care free tossing of bouncing pebbles
Falling, falling, disappear
We brought our glass faced dolls
I leave mine to guard our castle
How romantic
Gone too long Mother will worry
Tired journey back, our sunburned bodies carry trinkets
Acorns, rocks, rusty bottle caps and colored glass
Nibbling bits of bread like poor lost children
Goldilocks comes home again.

spooky

i was going to write about how we've...
been accidently "boo'ed" three times
(people leave treats on your doorstep)
gobbled up gifted pumpkin rolls,
taste tested neighbors party food,
collected 70+ leaves from nursery,
found 1.50 clothes for my addy,
ate pizza in the woods and spotted a fairy,
spray painted hands and 55 pots,
scored at the thrift store on glass,
and became overwhelmed with food
and love from angels that flew in from Salt Lake,
but I'm too exhausted and drunk on my blessings.
i am speechless.
there is good karma out there folks,
and i've been hogging it all.
so to give back,
i present to you
spook fest 2008.
enjoy.

Jason's Birthday-week-iversary

I did wish Jason Happy Birthday on his actual birthday, but with things that have popped up in the last week, I am just now getting to publicly acknowlege it with this post. Jason truly belongs in our lives and in our family! All these years I have looked forward to seeing who the man would be to accompany Eliza through eternity... she is an amazing woman and I knew she would settle for nothing less than she deserved. Eliza has always been the hopeless romantic in the family, and with high expectations, some of us wondered if there was really a man out there that would be able to sweep her off her feet. In walks Jason... smart, talented, hardworking, easy going, spiritual, down to earth, spanish speaking, funny, and darn cute- you guys are a perfect match!!

No one can deny the cloud that Eliza has been floating on since she met Jason. We still have many years to get to know him more, but just look at all the reasons SHE loves him-
his integrity and laughter
making those around him feel loved and appreciated
enjoys life to its fullest
loves the Mexican culture (as does Eliza)
loves his 6 sisters
loyal to his friends
witty, perfect fix-it man
close to the Lord
loves his new nieces and nephews
great with kids (Eliza melting)
loves airplanes
Chicago boy who loves his Chicago pizza
helps others
and the list goes on and on...

We love you and hope you had a super duper birthday!!

Tooele does so here declare that September 30th is national

"Jason is Cool Day"!
