FORT RANCH

Today I was going to strap in the kids and make the 2 1/2 hour drive up to the Fort Ranch to do a little cowboy wrangling. But alas, the rain is pouring down and the cold conditions would make it miserable for my little ones. This is a bummer because I was hoping to give my kids a real education in some hard work that doesn't involve loading the dishwasher or being Shoe Fairy (the person in charge of gathering up the random shoes around the house and delivering them to the person's room they belong to). I was also hoping to partake in the ritual of barbecueing some freshly harvested "rocky mountain oysters" and showing my toughness by tasting some. Glad I averted that task.

Instead we'll be heading up to the HORSE SALE on June 21st. We love going to these sales because it's a chance to get together and hang with the family, and pretend that we're cowboys with our hats and boots. I also love to listen to the auctioneers rambling fast and the hecklers trying to get people to bid. I always get a little nervous when I scratch my head or sneeze because I don't want them to mistake it for a bid- the same nervous I get when I walk through security at a store thinking that I'll set off the alarm even though I haven't stolen anything.

YEE-HAW!

I love the Shoe Fairy idea--that's awesome! Random shoes laying around is one of my husband's biggest pet peeves, and I'm sure he will be thrilled to add Shoe Fairy to the chore list. Good one!
